FYI: I just ran across a radio station on-line aggrigator called Tune In. http://www.tunein.com
It is very accessible, has stations from all over the world, and in the U.S. has all the HD2 and HD3 digital stations. It even will find radio reading services.

Post 2 by LittleSneezer (The Zone-BBS is my prison, but I like it here.) on Friday, 17-May-2013 17:23:38

I have the TuneIn Radio app on my iPhone, and I think it's awesome.

the TuneIn app for iphone is very good. great accessability, lots of stations. it was one of the first apps i bought when I got my phone.

I also use it, it is a great ap!

I also use tune in radio on my iPhone and it is a great app! I listen to all kinds of stations from all over the world.

I'd be lost without Tune-In.

Post 7 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 19-May-2013 15:21:29

I have an app by the same name. Either I have the wrong one, or they made it free. It does, however, get choppy when I use it with VoiceOver.

Post 8 by Faial (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 19-May-2013 16:53:58

Me too! I use it everyday! What are the differences for the Pro Version? Is it worth to pay! I have an Iphone 5!

Post 9 by Pasco (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Monday, 20-May-2013 1:06:44

Just to be clear, you do not have to use a smart phone, it is available just using a computer also. I'm glad to hear it works well and is accessible with iOS too as people have been asking me, and I don't use one so couldn't answer.

Post 10 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 20-May-2013 9:43:32

It is a shame that the site doesn't work with my Apex. They don't block Tune In Radio at school, and I don't bring my iPod to school. Shame.

Post 11 by Faial (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 20-May-2013 14:21:30

I also used it in one Android phone and it is also accessible! It seems it works fine in a lot of platforms!

Post 12 by Brooke (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 20-May-2013 14:37:29

I think the 2 main differences between the free and paid versions are that the paid removes the banner with ads, and you can record live radio.

Post 13 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 03-Jun-2013 1:26:34

I use Tune-in alot on the computer. I remember a few years ago when it used to be called Radio Time. I think it is the most extensive database of radio stations too. Well, that and radio-locator for listings. But yah Tune-in is a great site and sounds like its a great app. I have read they have worked to make it available on many different platforms so that is good.

Post 14 by Smiling Sunshine (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 03-Jun-2013 8:34:26

I have the pro app and I still get some of the choppiness yall are talking about. I also get a message sometimes that says I don't have enough disk space on my phone. I exported a bunch of videos to free up some space and that seems to have helped. I haven't recorded any radio yet but need to do so. I think it's definitely worth the money.

Post 15 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 03-Jun-2013 15:17:20

Radio-locator doesnt always keep up with format changes or the correct audio streaming links.
I do send in a lot of corrections, but as I understand it it is checked manually, so changes aren't forth coming instantly for the improper stations.

Post 16 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 03-Jun-2013 17:09:23

Yah i noticed that to with radio-locator. Alot of times the incorrect info for translators is listed or the format for the station is wrong. Sometimes the audio link is wrong too.
Another good site for streaming radio stations is bill sparks site. bill Sparks does a good job with his radio site.
www.billsparks.org
I know he really tries to update the listen links and the format links when things change too.

Post 17 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 03-Jun-2013 21:34:15

if you do submit changes to radio-locator they will eventually get to it.
One thing i like about them is that they are direct links that can open within Winamp.
I'll check out your other site.
Thanks!

Post 18 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 03-Jun-2013 22:59:30

Yah that is a good thing about radio-locator that the stations use winamp for the streams. I will submit some changes to stations on radio-locator then. Yah let me know what you think of billsparks.org too.

Post 19 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 04-Jun-2013 15:12:42

I think the site could be laid out better, but I like it.
I dont know that i'd use it though, the layout seems clunky to me.

Post 20 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 04-Jun-2013 20:01:44

Yah the layout does take time to get used to. I use that site and Tune-in for streaming radio.

Post 21 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 04-Jun-2013 20:22:24

I like TheStreamCenter.com

Post 22 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 24-Oct-2013 13:57:52

I think that one lacking point in TuneIn is the lack of a scheduler. I'd like to schedule it to record my favorite radio show while I'm away at school, but can't, since there is no function to dictate a tioe to start, stop, and the station to listen to.

Post 23 by Faial (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 26-Nov-2013 6:40:29

There is a scheduler in Tunein Pro but it's not accessible. Wish I could do the same. I am using the IOS version!

Post 24 by season (the invisible soul) on Tuesday, 26-Nov-2013 20:39:30

Tune in pro is great. another alternative is OOTunes. the pro is around $5. It allows you to do the same as with TuneIn, the different i think is OOTunes seems to have a bigger radio station database

Post 25 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Friday, 29-Nov-2013 20:29:19

OOTunes certainly has a wider range of stations here in the US. Also, I think you can schedule recordings with OOTunes, but, as was already stated, this feature is not accessible with VoiceOver on the TuneIn app.

Post 26 by Smiling Sunshine (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 29-Nov-2013 23:05:43

I think also that IHeart Radio has improved accessibility. I'm about to play with it a bit so I'll make a new post when I figure it out.

Post 27 by spfan15 (O&A Party Rock!!!) on Sunday, 01-Dec-2013 20:21:50

I'm a jock on two stations you can find on TuneInRadio. Search The Pulse to hear me on weekends from 1-5 eastern, and Z108 to hear me every week day from 10-2. I love the app. It's fantastic!

Post 28 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 26-Dec-2013 20:17:03

Hell, I don't even see a scheduler feature. It must be so inaccessible that it is invisible to VoiceOver.

Post 29 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Friday, 27-Dec-2013 3:55:32

I've used tune-in, but prefer tapin radio.

Post 30 by battle star queen (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 10-Jan-2014 21:22:41

I use tune in radio in order to get some local stations that I can't find on ootunes. Lately, i've started liking tune in a lot more though.

Post 31 by GuitarGuy (Veteran Zoner) on Sunday, 18-May-2014 16:49:16

I use TuneIn daily. I can't stand the new updated version... I could care less how many people are listening to the same station or program that I am. I find the new update clunky and more of a pain to navigate than the old one. Thoughts?
I'm guessing that this is money-driven to generate buzz for the most popular stations and shows... Who cares about that, I say.

Post 32 by Westcoastcdngrl (move over school!) on Sunday, 18-May-2014 16:55:51

I heart Tune In Radio... I can listen to the morning news and traffic
broadcasts of the talk radio station I used to listen to in Vancouver when I'm
making my dinner in London and I can also listen to the hockey at stupid
o'clock in the morning when my Vancouver Canucks are playing without
having to have my laptop turned on.

Post 33 by Smiling Sunshine (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 19-May-2014 22:27:23

Oh no. I just updated today but haven't tried the ap yet. Doesn't sound like I'm going to like it though. Is it the pro or the free version?

Post 34 by Runner229 (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 20-May-2014 9:49:49

I like the app a lot. I haven't really played around with it much, because the main purpose
of me getting it was to hear one of my friends who is a DJ on one of the stations they
have to offer, but I don't see any major problems with it. I'll have to do some more
investigating with it before I can actually say much more.

Post 35 by GuitarGuy (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 20-May-2014 10:08:10

I use the free version. Since I have complained on here, I am finding the app easy to navigate again. I'm sure its a coincidence, but I like to imagine that I have that sort of power and influence.

Post 36 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 28-May-2014 20:25:03

I got the pro version on my iPod, but I need to somehow port the purchase to my LG Volt; why pay for it again when I have it already, right?

Post 37 by spfan15 (O&A Party Rock!!!) on Saturday, 14-Jun-2014 4:20:18

I have the pro version and I too, hate the update, especially how you have to navigate back to any menu you're at out of the play screen. Over all I have a lot of friends in radio around the country and I can check out all there shows with the app. Unless it's a Clear Channel station then I go over to IHeartRadio.

Post 38 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 04-Dec-2014 23:57:44

I use Tunein on my android phone and it works great. It took time to get used to the update a few months ago.

Post 39 by blindaudio (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 06-Dec-2014 6:38:26

Yeah, not a big fan of the upate either, but I do love tunein. Definitely offers a lot of music and radio shows.
I personally like the mosen explosion, and rob, arnie, and dawn.

Post 40 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Saturday, 06-Dec-2014 19:26:14

I've had TuneIn Radio for a few months now, and I wouldn't ever use iHeart Radio again, which was what I used before TuneIn Radio; iHeart Radio is too clunky, in my opinion.

Post 41 by dave84 (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 06-Dec-2014 23:34:08

@blindaudio Rob Arnie and Dawn, do you happen to live in or are from Reno Nevada? because I know that show is from Reno.

Post 42 by season (the invisible soul) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2014 19:01:25

OOTunes have a better radio database than Tunein, but i like the simplicity of tunein radio, and how easy to record programs etc. The updates doesn't bug me that much... in fact, in someway, i do like the update version more so then the previous version

Post 43 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Monday, 08-Dec-2014 15:58:24

Shell Script: I don't think you can do that, since it's on a different platform. I could be wrong, but I know other apps don't allow you to have one purchased version for both iOS and Android. Best of luck.
